Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger State has donated 100 bags of rice and 10 cows to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to support feeding of corps members in the ongoing orientation course.
Mrs Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, the Coordinator of the scheme in the state, said this during the presentation of the items on Sunday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko Local Government Area of the state.
She commended the governor for his commitment towards improving the wellbeing of corps members posted to the state.
“This gesture shows the state government’s commitment towards ensuring welfare of corps members, enabling them to settle down and offer diligent service in the state,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the governor donated 600 bags of rice, 20 cows, and approved payment of N200,000 to each of the 1,600 corps members of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1.
