Reality TV star and Nollywood actor Pere Egbi has shared the devastating news of a friend’s death, attributing the loss to the effects of relentless online bullying.

Taking to 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Pere expressed his grief over the suicide, calling for more awareness around the dangers of cyberbullying.

“I lost a friend today due to online bullying. Committed suicide. Smh. RIP champ. It is well,” he wrote.

While Pere did not disclose further details about the individual, the message has sparked an outpouring of condolences and discussions on mental health and responsible online behavior.

Pere’s emotional message adds to the growing list of Nigerian public figures speaking out against toxic online culture. Fans and fellow celebrities have since echoed his call for greater empathy on social media platforms, urging people to be mindful of their words and actions.

In a separate post earlier this week, Pere also weighed in on the state of African film industries, saying South Africa currently leads in key areas such as storytelling, production quality, and professionalism.

“No offense to my Nollywood colleagues, but South Africa is ahead of us when it comes to film production, storytelling, filmmaking, and work ethics,” he wrote.

He emphasized the need for collaboration between Nollywood and South Africa’s film sector to strengthen African cinema on the global stage.

Pere, who rose to fame through Big Brother Naija, has since built a successful career in acting, known for his outspoken nature and advocacy on social issues.
