Former Big Brother Naija Season 6 housemate, Samuel Alifa, popularly known as Sammie, has responded to allegations that he defrauded a businessman of ₦4.4 million in connection with a purported BBNaija audition scheme.

The allegation was made by a businessman, Emmanuel Idakwo, who claimed in an interview with Punch that Sammie misled him into paying millions under the pretense of securing a spot on the reality show.

Idakwo stated that, although BBNaija does not officially charge audition fees, he trusted Sammie due to their shared Kogi State origin and Igala heritage. According to him, Sammie presented the payment as part of a new “twist” in the show’s format and assured him that the money would be refunded—whether or not he got into the house.

“He told me not to worry, that the money would be refunded after I exited the house—or even if I didn’t get in,” Idakwo alleged, adding that he sold his car and made 16 instalment payments, totaling over ₦4 million.

Idakwo also claimed that Sammie paid part of the supposed audition fee on his behalf before informing him, which made him feel pressured to follow through.

In response to the allegations, Sammie issued a statement denying any wrongdoing.

“I truly appreciate your concern and your interest in hearing my side of the story. However, just as I’ve shared with other journalists, I would prefer not to speak on this matter at the moment,” he said.

“I want to be clear that I did not scam anyone, nor did I promise to get him on the show.”

The matter has sparked discussion online, with fans and critics divided over the details. As of now, no official investigation or legal proceedings have been confirmed.
