Benue South Senatorial Aspirant Slams FG Over Insecurity, Urges Youth to Take Charge
Bashir Hassan Ekoja, a senatorial aspirant for Benue South Senatorial District, has issued a scathing statement condemning the Federal Government’s handling of the ongoing violence in Benue and Zamfara States. Describing the government’s response as “tepid, inconsistent, and disturbingly political,” Ekoja called on Nigerian youths to rise and take charge of the country’s future.
In a press release titled “Enough is Enough: It’s Time for the Youth to Take Charge,” Ekoja lamented the rising wave of killings, displacements, and destruction of communities in both states, accusing the government of abdicating its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.
“Our people are under siege—fathers are being killed, mothers widowed, children orphaned. Communities are being razed and displaced in what now feels like a calculated abandonment,” he said.
Ekoja criticized the Federal Government for what he described as reducing security issues to “press briefings and blame games,” warning that such negligence amounts to betrayal rather than governance.
“The Federal Government is playing politics with the lives of our people in Benue and Zamfara. When lives are reduced to numbers, and tragedies are met with silence or spin, it is clear that the leadership has lost touch with the people it claims to serve,” he stated.
Calling on Nigerian youth to rise to the occasion, Ekoja said it was time for the younger generation to organize, mobilize, and assume leadership roles through peaceful and visionary means.
“We cannot sit back while incompetence, corruption, and indifference destroy the soul of our nation. We must organize, mobilize, and reclaim the leadership of our country—not through violence or vengeance, but through vision, courage, and service,” he declared.
Ekoja concluded with a rallying cry for unity and purposeful action, urging Nigerians across all backgrounds to work together for a nation where “every life matters, every community is protected, and the government truly serves the people.”
His statement comes amid renewed attacks in parts of Benue and Zamfara, where scores of residents have been killed or displaced in recent weeks.
