Over 200 bikers captivated spectators on Sunday with breathtaking stunts during the Bikers’ Parade, a highlight of the 2024 Calabar Carnival in pCross River State.
The reports gathered that the bikers rode along the 12km carnival route, performing acrobatic maneuvers that dazzled the crowd. Revelers gathered at strategic locations to witness stunts such as wheelies, stoppies, and jumps on high-performance motorcycles, making the parade a spectacular visual feast.
Adorned in vibrant outfits and gleaming bikes, the riders brought glamour and excitement to the event. The roar of engines and daring displays of agility and balance kept the audience mesmerized, celebrating the passion and camaraderie of the biking community in Calabar.
Nigeria’s fastest female biker, Aisha Vatsa, popularly known as “Flygirl,” participated in the parade and shared her enthusiasm. “Biking is my passion, and events like this showcase its touristic and health benefits,” said Vatsa, who is also the National Secretary of the Metallic Knights Motorcycle Club.
Vatsa highlighted the club’s goal to establish Calabar as a global hub for bikers, emphasizing the city’s excellent road network, beautiful weather, and welcoming people. She also commended Governor Bassey Otu for supporting the bikers and the carnival.
“Our focus is on promoting safe riding. I’ve been riding power bikes for over 20 years and have traveled to Ghana, Benin Republic, and Ivory Coast. I hope to ride to South Africa and Europe soon,” she added.
Nformi Leonard, another participant from the Metallic Knights Motorcycle Club, shared his experience of riding from Abuja to Calabar for the event. “For us, biking is a way to release adrenaline and refresh ourselves. This carnival is about having fun and connecting with the community,” he said.
The Bikers’ Parade underscored the unity and shared passion of the biking community, making it a memorable aspect of the Calabar Carnival.
