A High Court sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State, has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Abubakar Ibrahim, to five years in prison for sexual exploitation.

The judgment, delivered by Hon. Justice Aisha Ndume, followed Ibrahim’s conviction for procuring a person for sexual exploitation—an offense contrary to Section 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

The case was prosecuted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), after Ibrahim was first arraigned on November 21, 2024. He was found guilty and convicted on Monday, August 4, 2025.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the convict to pay a fine of ₦1 million.
