Brazil’s Federal Police arrested General Walter Braga Netto, a former Defense Minister and 2022 vice-presidential running mate of ex-President Jair Bolsonaro, on Saturday.
The arrest is linked to investigations into an alleged coup plot aimed at keeping Bolsonaro in power after his unsuccessful reelection bid in 2022.
According to a source close to the case, Braga Netto was detained following accusations filed in November against him, Bolsonaro, and 35 others for orchestrating the plot. The source, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak publicly, confirmed the development.
