Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo has become the latest victim of street crime in Barcelona after being robbed in broad daylight while shopping in the city.

According to Marca, the former Liverpool and Barcelona player—who currently plays for Girona in La Liga on loan from Juventus—was targeted while paying for his parking ticket on Passeig de Gracia around 4 p.m.

Eyewitnesses say a man jumped off a motorcycle, snatched Melo’s luxury watch, and sped away with an accomplice. The 28-year-old footballer was reportedly unharmed and later filed a report with the police.

Despite the unsettling incident, Melo was present at Girona’s training on Friday and is expected to feature in their upcoming clash against Alaves on Saturday.

This isn’t the first time the midfielder has fallen victim to crime. In 2019, two burglars broke into his home while he was playing for Barcelona, threatening his brother with a weapon and making off with valuables, including jewelry and a Rolex.

The recent attack has raised renewed concerns about the safety of public figures and rising street crimes in major European cities.
