Three-time Olympian and former World’s Strongest Man Geoff Capes has passed away at the age of 75, his family confirmed on Wednesday, October 23.
Capes remains Great Britain’s greatest shot putter, holding the national record with a throw of 21.68 meters, which he set in 1980. In addition to his Olympic success, Capes was crowned World’s Strongest Man twice, first in 1983 and again in 1985.
In a statement, Capes’ family said: “The family of Geoffrey Capes would like to announce his sad passing today, 23rd October. Britain’s finest shot putter and twice World’s Strongest Man.”
