A 58-year-old British woman from Doncaster has died after falling from a hotel walkway in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Patong, Phuket, Thailand.

Local police say the tourist was returning to her hotel with her boyfriend around 2:40am when she fell from a height of approximately 25 feet (six to seven metres) on Rath-U-Thit 200 Pi Road. Initial investigations suggest she had been out drinking earlier that evening and may have been intoxicated at the time of the fall.

The woman suffered multiple severe injuries, including a broken neck, fractured nose, facial bruises, and broken bones in her ankle and wrist. She was rushed to Kusoldharm Hospital, but despite efforts by medical staff, she died shortly after arrival.

Authorities have requested a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Her name is being withheld pending formal identification and notification of her family by the British Embassy.

The incident adds to a string of tragic tourist deaths in Thailand, including a recent case involving a British woman found dead on a beach in Koh Phangan. Local authorities continue to urge visitors to exercise caution, particularly around alcohol and elevated walkways in tourist areas.
