BUA Foods Plc has announced a major expansion of its pasta production capacity by 400,000 metric tonnes, raising its annual output to 900,000 MT in a bid to enhance food security across Nigeria.

This planned boost follows an agreement with FAVA (Italy), a renowned global leader in pasta equipment manufacturing, to increase BUA Foods’ annual pasta production by 400,000 MT. The expansion aligns with the company’s strategic roadmap and ongoing commitment to addressing Nigeria’s food supply challenges.

The project will add nine new lines of long-cut pasta, capable of producing 6,000 kgs per hour, positioning BUA Foods as one of Africa’s leading pasta producers. In a complementary move, BUA Foods also signed an agreement with Cukurova Silo (Turkiye), a top-tier silo solutions provider, to enhance its grain storage capacity by an additional 100,000 tonnes.

This investment in new pasta lines, packaging, and storage systems aims to serve customers better, expand the company’s manufacturing footprint, and support its broader business objectives.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, CFR, CON, Chairman of BUA Foods, stated: “Our manufacturing capacity expansion will continue to push the limits of our production capabilities, supporting national development by addressing ongoing food shortages. Alongside increasing pasta output, we aim to introduce innovative solutions that will support mixed volume growth while maintaining the high-quality products our customers expect.”

Rabiu also emphasized the significance of the additional grain storage capacity, noting that it will help meet growing product demand and strengthen the supply of raw materials essential for BUA Foods’ operations.

This pasta facility expansion comes after BUA Foods signed an agreement with IMAS, a prominent Turkish flour milling equipment manufacturer, to construct four state-of-the-art wheat and flour milling factories, boosting the company’s milling capacity to 2.5 million MT per annum.

Once completed, this expansion will further enhance BUA Foods’ manufacturing presence, market leadership, and job creation efforts in Nigeria.
