President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has revealed that Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy was briefly delayed at a Moroccan airport over his jewellery while travelling for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.

Motsepe disclosed this during a recent press conference, explaining that customs officials stopped the artiste after noticing his expensive gold jewellery.

According to the CAF president, the situation was quickly resolved following his personal intervention.

“I was recently called upon to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened, and the matter was resolved,” Motsepe said.

Burna Boy later went on to headline the TotalEnergies AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16.

The event also featured performances by Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy, alongside Moroccan artistes Stormy and Jaylann.
