A 51-year-old car dealer, Kemisola Sossa, on Thursday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. over alleged N1millon fraud.
Sossa, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of fraud, stealing and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 30, 2025 at Ajara area of Badagry.
Ekpo said that the defendant collected the N1 million from the complainant, Mrs Omolara Nofiu, for the purchase of a Volkswagen Gulf car, which he failed to deliver.
He said that defendant converted the money to his personal use and conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace when asked to refund the money.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 314, 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Layeni ordered that one of the sureties must own a business with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until Feb. 23 for mention.
