CDS Calls for Unity, Sacrifice and Hope in Easter Message
The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has urged Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces to embrace sacrifice, unity and renewed hope as Christians mark Easter.
In his 2026 Easter goodwill message, Oluyede said the season reflects courage, selflessness and the triumph of good over evil—core values that align with the military profession.
He noted that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ represent true leadership built on sacrifice and commitment to a greater cause.
The defence chief commended officers and personnel of the Armed Forces for their bravery and steadfast dedication to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens.
He also paid tribute to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, assuring that their sacrifices would always be remembered.
Oluyede acknowledged wounded personnel and troops currently deployed across various theatres of operation, describing their resilience as a source of inspiration to the nation.
He called on military personnel to remain united, vigilant and professional, stressing the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and support from local communities in addressing security challenges.
The CDS further appreciated the families of service members—particularly those with loved ones on deployment—for their patience and support, noting their vital role in sustaining troop morale.
He urged Nigerians to adopt a whole-of-society approach in tackling insecurity, emphasising that collective resolve and cooperation are crucial to achieving lasting peace and stability.
Oluyede expressed confidence that with courage, faith and unity, the Armed Forces would continue to protect the country’s territorial integrity, and wished all Nigerians a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration.
