China’s embassy in Israel announced plans to evacuate its citizens via Egypt’s Taba border crossing beginning Friday, as conflict in the Middle East escalates.
In a statement issued Thursday, the embassy said it is organizing group departures for Chinese nationals — including residents of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan — who wish to leave Israel. Evacuees will be transported by bus to the Taba crossing, located about 360km (224 miles) from Tel Aviv.
The move follows the departure of hundreds of Chinese citizens from Israel earlier in the week, and the evacuation of around 1,600 individuals from Iran in recent days.
The decision comes amid increasing regional instability, including a recent Iranian missile strike on Holon, central Israel, which prompted emergency response efforts.
The embassy is currently registering citizens interested in joining the evacuation and urged them to follow updates and instructions closely.
