An Afghan-born football coach, identified as Ashgar, has died after collapsing during a youth training camp organized by Bayern Munich in Riesa, Saxony, Germany.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday during a lunch break at the Feralpi Arena, where 119 boys and girls had gathered for a five-day program led by coaches from the Bundesliga champions. Ashgar suddenly collapsed on the pitch, and though emergency services responded swiftly, he later passed away in the hospital.

BSG Stahl Riesa, the local club partnering with Bayern Munich for the camp, confirmed the incident in a statement on its website:
“During the lunch break, Ashgar collapsed on the pitch. In the afternoon, we received the heartbreaking news that he had lost his life in the hospital.”

Out of respect for the deceased and his family, Bayern Munich ended the camp prematurely. The club also provided psychological support for affected children, parents, and coaching staff.

In a message to parents, Bayern Munich expressed deep sorrow over the loss:
“We are all dismayed and shocked by the tragic incident during our FC Bayern Campus training session in Riesa. There are no words for such a situation. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family, relatives, and friends.”

Ashgar had been coaching an under-13 team at Austrian club TSV Hartberg, which paid tribute on Instagram:
“With his always friendly, helpful, and professional manner, he was very popular with all players, parents, colleagues, and officials. His sudden death leaves a deep void in our club.”
