Colombia Extradites Alleged Drug Kingpin Sodapuppy to Netherlands

Colombia has extradited a 44-year-old suspected drug kingpin, known by the alias “Sodapuppy,” to the Netherlands. He is accused of orchestrating cocaine and methamphetamine distribution for Mexican drug cartels.

The public prosecutor’s office in The Hague confirmed on Friday that the Colombian national is now in Dutch custody, following his transfer by Dutch gendarmerie officers.

Prosecutors described him as a key figure in an international drug smuggling and money laundering network. Sodapuppy was arrested in Tuluá, Colombia, on July 18, following a request from Dutch authorities.

The suspect is accused of producing large quantities of crystal meth in the Netherlands for Mexican gangs and smuggling cocaine from South America into Europe. He allegedly funneled about 20 million euros (22 million dollars) in illegal profits from the Netherlands to Mexico and Colombia.

The accused is expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday. Dutch authorities aim to bring him and 12 other suspects to trial later this year, according to the ANP News Agency.
