The International Distilleries Company on Friday donated traffic cones and barriers to the Ota Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun, to help the personnel in the discharge of their duties.
Mr Wasiu Ogunmefun, the FRSC Unit Commander, commended the management of the company for its kind gesture, saying that safety on the highway was a collective responsibility of everyone.
The unit commander implored other companies in Ota and its environs to give back to the society in order to make the roads safer for every motoring public.
He listed the items donated to FRSC to include 100 units of 1000mm traffic cones, 100 units of 750 traffic cones, two units of safety fence (barriers).
Ogunmefun said others were one unit of water fillable traffic barricade and 10 units of sand/water fillable barricade.
He thanked the company for its interest in ensuring safety in Ota and its environs.
“This gesture will go a long way in boosting the Command’s efforts in traffic management, and we promise to put the items into judicious use,”
he said
Mr Adesina Adegoke,a representative of International Distilleries Company, expressed the management’s desire to donate the items as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Adegoke lauded the efforts of the Command in ensuring safety of lives and properties in a complex environment like Ota.
He enjoined the command not to relent, and keep up the good works of safety.
Adegoke assured the FRSC that the company woukd continue to assist FRSC in any way toward safety of lives and property in the corridor.
