An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, remanded a 25- year-old man, Gabriel Richard, in a Kirikiri Correctional Center for allegedly abducting a teenager for three days and sexual assaulting her.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A Owolabi refused to listen to the defendant’s plea and ordered him to be remanded till Nov. 26, pending the Director of Public Prosecution’s advise.

The defendant, a music engineer, who resides at Otun Junction, Ayobo Ishefun in Lagos, is standing trail for abduction and sexual assault.

The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that the offences were committed between Sept. 18 to Sept. 21 at Ayobo, Lagos.

Ademigbuji alleged that a 14- year-old girl was declared missing and all efforts to locate her proved abortive, until the case was reported at the police station.

The prosecutor said the police responded but made little progress, noting that the victim returned home safely three days later.

Ademigbuji said that the victim informed her family that it was the defendant who abducted her to an unknown location and repeatedly assaulted her sexually.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of  Sections 137 and 269 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
