A Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, Oyo State has remanded a 21-year-old man, Abdulahi Sayyid, over alleged theft of roofing sheets valued at N200,000.
The President of the court, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Agodi correctional centre after he failed to perfect the bail condition which the court granted him.
Akintayo had admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200.000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She added that each of the sureties must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Oyo State government.
Akintayo adjourned the matter until May 6 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution, insp. Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on March 30, at about 1.30 p.m., at Asi area in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ayeni added that the defendant together with others now at large stole the roofing sheets valued at N200,000, which belonged to one Mary Ojo.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State 2000.
