Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, marking a major step toward easing fuel costs and stabilising Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

With more than 2,000 MRS outlets spread across the country, the new price is expected to be implemented nationwide, ensuring broad consumer access to cheaper petrol. The refinery, in a statement, praised marketers who have already complied with the new pricing structure and urged others to adopt it in the national interest.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the refinery said.

The development comes at a time when Nigerians typically experience fuel scarcity and price hikes during the festive season. Dangote Refinery said its intervention, supported by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, is aimed at preventing shortages and curbing price volatility during the holidays.

By refining fuel locally at scale, the refinery noted that Nigeria’s dependence on imports and exposure to global market fluctuations are being reduced, while foreign exchange is conserved, the naira stabilised, and energy security strengthened. The sustained supply and price cut are expected to bring relief to households, businesses and transport operators nationwide.

The refinery also warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction, urging regulatory authorities to act swiftly.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

Consumers were advised to avoid buying petrol at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available, and to report any MRS station selling above the approved rate.

“We encourage Nigerians to buy PMS at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide and report any station selling above this price by calling 0800 123 5264,” the refinery said, while also calling on other petrol marketers to patronise its products so the benefits of the price cut can reach more Nigerians.
