The United States has imported over two million barrels of aviation fuel from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery, marking a significant milestone for the country’s petroleum industry.
In a statement on Tuesday, the refinery highlighted the “unparalleled quality” of its products and the growing confidence of international markets in its operations.
Ship-tracking data from Kpler revealed that six vessels carrying approximately 1.7 million barrels of jet fuel from the refinery arrived at various U.S. ports in March. Additionally, the Hafnia Andromeda is expected to deliver another 348,000 barrels to the Everglades terminal on March 29.
With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is positioning itself as a key player in global fuel trading, particularly within the Atlantic Basin. The latest shipment follows the refinery’s recent export of around 130 million liters of jet fuel to Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprises, described the development as a testament to Nigeria’s growing refining capabilities.
“It is a moment of pride that a Nigerian refinery meets the stringent export standards of the U.S. market. This underscores the high quality and competitiveness of Dangote’s products,” Yusuf stated.
