Popular social media critic, Daniel Regha, has expressed strong displeasure over the recently released movie “Devil is a Liar”, describing it as “an absolute waste of time and data.”
In a review posted on his verified Facebook page, Regha said while the film attempted to highlight issues such as insecurity, societal pressure, and emotional manipulation, it ended up being “a total flop.”
According to him, although the cast features talented Nigerian actors, most of them were miscast and failed to deliver convincing performances. “How it topped Netflix is ridiculous,” he wrote.
Regha listed several inconsistencies in the movie, including a scene where Nancy Isime’s character claimed a television had been stolen, even though a set was visibly mounted in the living room. He also faulted the lack of chemistry between the lead characters, Adaora and Jaiye, describing their kiss scenes as “forced and unprofessional.”
Other flaws he highlighted include poor scripting of Douglas’ dating scene, an unrealistic sex-tape sequence, and prisoners appearing with artificial nails and attachment hair. He added that conversations throughout the movie were “boring” and lacked energy.
Despite his harsh criticism, Regha admitted that the film had two redeeming qualities — its scenic appeal and its promotion of local cuisine.
Concluding his review, he rated the movie 1.5 out of 10.
