The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued the traditional ruler of Dari, Chief Emmanuel Omanji, who was abducted from his palace in Dari, Kokona Local Government Area, on May 28.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, announced the monarch’s release in a statement issued Tuesday in Lafia.
“The command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, was successfully rescued unhurt,” Nansel said.
He disclosed that the operation, carried out by the command’s Search and Rescue Team, took place around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, in the Panwasa Mountains, near Mada Station.
“The rescue operation took place in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station, following sustained pressure from the command’s Search and Rescue Team,” he added.
Nansel confirmed that Chief Omanji was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention after his rescue and has since been reunited with his family.
“Efforts are ongoing by our operatives to apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the abduction,” the police spokesman said.
On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, the command thanked members of the public for their timely information and invaluable support, which played a key role in the rescue mission.
Jauro-Mohammed also extended appreciation to other security agencies and local vigilante groups, saying their cooperation was instrumental in securing the monarch’s release.
