Davido: I Used to Run Errands for Don Jazzy, D’Banj in My Early Days
Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Davido has opened up about his early days in the music industry, revealing that he once ran errands for music heavyweights Don Jazzy and D’Banj.
In a now-viral video, Davido shared a story from his teenage years in Atlanta, recounting how he would drive his father’s Rolls-Royce to buy McDonald’s for the duo while seizing the opportunity to freestyle for them.
“In Atlanta, 2007 or 2008 or 2009… In my father’s house, I was freestyling for Don Jazzy and D’Banj. He sent me to go and buy McDonald’s with my papa car — Rolls Royce,” Davido recalled.
The anecdote sheds light on the humble beginnings of the superstar, who has since risen to global fame and become one of Africa’s most influential artists.
