Davido Not Father of Anuoluwapo, DNA Tests Prove — Adeleke
Dr Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has dismissed claims that the singer fathered a child identified as Anuoluwapo, insisting that multiple DNA tests have disproved the allegation.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke said the family relied solely on scientific evidence to address the paternity claim, adding that all tests conducted returned negative results.
The controversy resurfaced after a letter posted on social media platform X on January 15, 2025, by a user identified as Anuoluwapo, called on Davido to undergo a DNA test. Davido later confirmed that tests carried out at his father’s insistence showed he was not the child’s father.
Providing further clarification, Adeleke said five DNA tests were conducted in total — three involving Davido and two involving his cousin, Adebayo David Adeleke, also known as B-Red — to rule out any possible mix-up. He said all the results confirmed that Davido was not the father.
“I relied completely on science, and science revealed that David is not the father. If science proves someone is my grandchild, I will accept them without hesitation,” Adeleke said, noting that he already has 14 grandchildren.
He disclosed that the matter dates back to 2014 when Anuoluwapo’s mother and grandmother contacted his office through a lawyer, submitting photographs and a letter alleging paternity. According to him, steps were immediately taken to verify the claim.
Despite the DNA results, Adeleke said the issue has continued to resurface on social media, prompting him to address the public. He added that Anuoluwapo’s grandmother had refused to accept the findings and had sought intervention from family members and traditional authorities in Osun State.
Adeleke also revealed that, despite the outcome, he had supported Anuoluwapo and her mother by sponsoring their education. He said Anuoluwapo’s mother was enrolled at Adeleke University with a monthly bursary of N50,000 but later dropped out.
He further alleged that the recent social media post was made by a blogger impersonating members of Anuoluwapo’s family. According to him, an aunt of the child confirmed that neither the mother nor any family member authored the post, attributing it to a blogger they had cut ties with years ago.
Adeleke said the family would pursue legal action against the blogger for impersonation and spreading false information, while urging Anuoluwapo’s mother to accept the DNA findings. He added that the offer of educational support for her remains open.
