Afrobeats superstar Davido has honoured his late colleague, Sound Sultan, in the music video for his hit single, 10 Kilo.
The colourful visuals, directed by Director Pink, feature scenes with a backdrop of Sound Sultan’s picture, alongside plus-size models dancing in front of the banner.
Davido’s 10 Kilo, which celebrates plus-size women, draws similarities to Sound Sultan’s 2013 remix of Orobo with Flavour — a track that also praised plus-size women and enjoyed massive airplay across Nigeria and West Africa.
Since Sound Sultan’s passing from cancer in July 2021, several Nigerian music stars, including 2Face, Burna Boy, Spyro, and Sean Tizzle, have paid tributes to the late singer.
Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Afrobeats, Sound Sultan left behind a rich legacy with timeless hits such as Jagabantis, Natural Something, Ole, Kokose, Orobo, and Very Good Bad Guy, which helped shape the sound and global appeal of the genre.
