The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has announced plans for the 2024 Nigeria Deejay Awards, aimed at recognizing the vital role deejays play in the country’s music industry.
This was revealed by DJAN National President, Prince Edeh, during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the award ceremony scheduled for December.
Edeh noted that over 5,000 registered deejays will be honored for their contributions to the growth and success of Nigerian music.
He highlighted the significance of the awards in acknowledging the often-overlooked influence of deejays in shaping music trends and promoting artists.
Humphrey Onyima, CEO of Leadership Scorecard Magazine, emphasized that the awards are designed to inspire future generations of deejays and demonstrate that disc jockeying is a legitimate and influential career path.
Onyima also pointed out that while artists and producers often take the spotlight, deejays are essential in building industry networks, fostering collaboration, and serving as cultural ambassadors who introduce new sounds to audiences worldwide.
The 2024 Nigeria Deejay Awards aims to strengthen connections between deejays, artists, and producers, highlighting the critical role deejays play in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
