The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has urged Nigerian Army troops to intensify their operations against bandits and terrorists in the North West region, saying the time has come to end all forms of insecurity in the country.
Badaru gave the charge while addressing soldiers at Dukku Barracks in Birnin Kebbi during his ongoing operational visit to Kebbi State.
According to a statement issued by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali, on Saturday in Abuja, the minister conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s deep appreciation to the troops for their unwavering efforts in promoting peace and stability nationwide.
He praised the soldiers for their professionalism, bravery, and the sacrifices they continue to make in the fight against insecurity.
“The president and the nation are profoundly grateful for your unwavering commitment,” Badaru said. “I urge you to intensify your efforts in eradicating all forms of insecurity in the country. It is time to finish all aspects of insecurity.”
The minister expressed satisfaction with the troops’ response and their assurance of readiness to tackle the task ahead. He said their unified commitment had strengthened his confidence in their ability to restore peace and security, enabling Nigerians to live and work without fear.
Reaffirming the federal government’s support for the armed forces, Badaru said the welfare of personnel remains a top priority and that the military will continue to receive the necessary resources and equipment to succeed in their mission.
He added that his visit was aimed at assessing the progress of military operations in the region and boosting the morale of the troops working tirelessly to combat insecurity, particularly in the North West.
