Upon arrival, the family was told by the hotel management that no such guest had checked in. Suspicious of the response, they insisted on searching the rooms. Despite resistance from the hotel owner, Chief Joseph Ovie Oghole, who claimed that the occupants of a particular room were engaged in private activities, the family, assisted by local vigilantes, forced the door open.
Inside, they discovered Ogofotha’s lifeless body tied up with visible injuries. His remains have since been deposited at a mortuary in Ozoro, the council headquarters.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
