A commercial motorcyclist known as “Papa Ejime” was found dead in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, after allegedly ingesting a substance suspected to be insecticide.
According to neighbors, the deceased had a history of chronic gambling and domestic violence, often assaulting his wife when he incurred losses.
Earlier this year, an incident reportedly resulted in his wife’s tooth being knocked out. Prior to their separation, his wife was responsible for household expenses, including rent, food, and their children’s school fees.
She eventually left with their children due to ongoing domestic violence. Repeated attempts by the deceased to reconcile with his wife were unsuccessful, leading to his apparent decision to take his own life.
This tragic incident highlights the severe consequences of domestic abuse and underscores the importance of seeking help in situations of marital distress.
