DHL Halts Costly U.S. Deliveries Amid Tariff Rule

DHL has suspended shipments worth over $800 to private U.S. customers, citing delays triggered by new customs rules under President Donald Trump’s tariff policy.

The global logistics company said the regulation, which took effect April 5, reduced the threshold for low-paperwork package entry from $2,500 to $800. This change now requires formal customs processing for higher-value packages, causing “multi-day delays.”

To ease the growing administrative burden, DHL announced it would pause business-to-consumer shipments over $800 to U.S. recipients starting Monday, until further notice.

While business-to-business deliveries above that value will continue, the company warned those shipments may still experience delays due to increased documentation requirements.

The policy shift is part of a broader Trump administration push to tighten trade rules and increase tariffs on imported goods.
