Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially begun serving his 50-month federal prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.

According to law enforcement sources, the rapper and entrepreneur was transferred early Thursday morning to the low-security facility, where he completed the check-in process shortly after arrival. This follows Judge Arun Subramanian’s sentencing decision, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons approving Diddy’s request to serve his term at Fort Dix.

His legal team explained that the facility was selected to help him focus on rehabilitation, manage substance abuse issues, and allow easier family visitation.

Before his transfer, Diddy had been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn since September 2024 after his arrest and denial of bail. The MDC is notorious for overcrowding and harsh conditions, which his lawyers described as unsafe and unsuitable.

Despite being moved to a lower-security environment, Diddy’s attorney, Mark Geragos, expressed ongoing concerns for his client’s safety, citing past incidents and threats of violence during his time in custody.

The Bureau of Prisons lists May 8, 2028, as Diddy’s projected release date, though that could change depending on his behavior, participation in rehabilitation programs, and other factors during incarceration.
