Drama as Police Arrest Nollywood Actors on Set Over Contract Dispute

Tension erupted on the set of an upcoming Nollywood film, Blue Dreams, after police officers stormed the location and arrested several actors, sparking outrage and widespread reactions online.

Nigerian filmmaker Amarachi Okeugo, popularly known as Amacassy, took to Instagram on July 16 to share a video of the incident, expressing shock over the disruption to her production.

According to Amacassy, the arrests were triggered by another production company that accused the actors of breaching a prior contract. The company alleged that the actors abandoned an unfinished project to work on Blue Dreams.

Amacassy, however, defended the actors, stating they had informed her that their previous obligations were completed before accepting the new roles. “It’s disheartening that after all the planning, effort, and resources put into this production, we were met with this kind of humiliation,” she said in the video.

The trending clip showed uniformed officers escorting actors off the set, leaving crew members stunned. While the identities of the arrested actors have not been officially released, the footage has ignited conversations on social media about professionalism, contracts, and the growing use of law enforcement in creative disputes.

Industry stakeholders have begun weighing in, with many calling for better dispute resolution mechanisms within Nollywood to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

As of press time, there has been no official statement from the police or the production company that filed the complaint.
