A 50-year-old driver, Innocent Emecheta, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two trucks valued at N10 million from his employer.

Emecheta, who resides at 17 Morin Street, Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos, is facing charges of stealing, obtaining by false pretence, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Glory Godday, the offences were committed between June 10 and December 2024 at Tokas Pure Resources Nigeria Limited, located in Agege.

“The defendant went away with a canter vehicle and a truck, both valued at N10 million, property of his employer,” Godday told the court.

She further alleged that Emecheta had previously obtained a loan of N2 million from the company under false pretence, promising to repay the money in installments.

The offences, Godday noted, contravened Sections 168, 287, and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Emecheta, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.E. Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to May 2 for mention.
