Duplantis Sets New World Record in Pole Vault at Diamond League
World and Olympic pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis shattered his own world record on Sunday, clearing 6.26 metres at the Wanda Diamond League meet in Silesia, Poland.
This marks his 10th world record, surpassing his previous achievement of 6.25 metres, which he set while defending his Olympic title earlier this month in Paris.
The Swedish athlete’s record-breaking performance came just two hours after Jakob Ingebrigtsen made history in the 3000m race at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial venue.
Duplantis clinched the win with his third vault at 6.00m before attempting the record height, which he cleared on his second try, thrilling the crowd.
The reports gathered that the new record awaits ratification by World Athletics.
Meanwhile, Olympic silver medallist Sam Kendricks of the U.S. and bronze medallist Emmanouil Karalis of Greece also cleared 6.00m, with Kendricks achieving a season-best and Karalis setting a new national record for Greece.
