A Durban businessman has accused the police of unlawfully confiscating his alcohol stock and refusing to return it. According to Sifiso Khumalo, owner of a local entertainment venue, law enforcement officers raided his business in December 2023, seizing a large quantity of alcohol without providing a clear reason or documentation.
Despite numerous attempts to reclaim his stock, Khumalo claims the police have been uncooperative, leaving his business at a financial loss. He alleges that some officers have even consumed or resold the seized alcohol.
The KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is underway, but Khumalo insists he will pursue legal action if his goods are not returned.
