The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 25 individuals allegedly undergoing training in internet fraud at a cybercrime academy in Benin City, Edo State.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the suspects were arrested during a raid on their hideout on Thursday following credible intelligence reports.
The facility was reportedly operating as a “yahoo academy,” where trainees were being groomed in fraudulent online activities.
The commission recovered six exotic cars, laptops, and mobile phones during the operation.
Oyewale confirmed that the suspects remain in custody and will be prosecuted once investigations are completed.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and warned individuals against involvement in fraudulent schemes.
