Egypt has called on the United Nations to prioritize ending the bloodshed in Gaza and prevent attempts to resolve the Palestinian issue through forced displacement.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty made this statement on Saturday during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasized that despite mediation efforts by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar, Israel has obstructed all attempts to resolve the conflict in Gaza.
The minister reiterated Egypt’s support for the establishment of a unified Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He highlighted that Africa and the Middle East remain the regions most affected by ongoing conflicts.
Abdelatty urged the UN Security Council to continue passing resolutions for humanitarian operations but emphasized the council’s inability to halt the violence, calling for more decisive action to end the crisis.
