Egypt Condemns Israeli Strikes on Gaza as Ceasefire Violation

Egypt has strongly condemned Israel’s latest airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the attacks undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts to restore calm and urged the international community to intervene immediately to stop the violence.

Egypt, along with Qatar and the United States, brokered a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in January. However, negotiations for an extension have stalled, with Israel warning of renewed military action unless Hamas releases more hostages.

It remains unclear whether the latest strikes, carried out overnight from Monday to Tuesday, are a tactical move to pressure Hamas or the start of a new phase in the 17-month conflict. According to the Hamas-run Palestinian health authority, more than 400 people have been killed in the latest Israeli airstrikes.
