In an extraordinary display of strength and endurance, Egyptian athlete Ashraf Mahrous, also known as Kabonga, has set a new world record by pulling a 279-ton train over a distance of 10.66 meters at Cairo’s Ramses Station.
This remarkable feat was achieved during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, with Mahrous performing while observing the daily fast.
The event took place over two days. On the first day, Mahrous pulled a two-ton cart for 107 meters in 37 seconds. The following day, he accomplished the train pull, surpassing his previous record of moving a 221-ton train.
Mahrous, renowned for his prowess in freestyle wrestling, has a history of extraordinary strength demonstrations, including pulling massive vehicles. His latest achievement not only showcases his physical capabilities but also highlights his dedication and resilience, especially while fasting during Ramadan.
The record-breaking attempt was witnessed by numerous spectators and a committee from Guinness World Records, who are expected to officially recognize Mahrous’s accomplishment.
