As Muslims across the country mark the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah, calling on them to embrace the core values of sacrifice, love, and unity that the festival represents.
In a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the governor congratulated Muslims in Ekiti State and across Nigeria for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, describing it as a festival of joy, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized the significance of the Islamic festival, citing the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to the command of Allah to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, before divine intervention replaced the child with a ram.
“Sacrifice is often the price to pay for victory, fulfillment, success, profit, and joy,” the governor said.
He urged Muslims to imbibe the central message of Eid-el-Kabir — total submission to the will of Almighty Allah — which, according to him, brings great rewards.
Oyebanji also stressed the importance of love, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths in Ekiti State. He described the Muslim community as a critical partner in the collective efforts to move the state to greater heights.
The governor appealed to Muslims not to relent in offering prayers for his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing hope that the country is on the path to a brighter and more glorious future.
He encouraged Muslims to celebrate in moderation and show kindness to their neighbors, particularly the less privileged, in line with the teachings of the Holy Quran.
“We wish the Muslim Ummah in our dear state and in Nigeria a happy Sallah and pray that God accepts our sacrifices as an act of Ibadah,” he said.
