Eight Killed, 27 Injured as Iranian Missile Hits West Jerusalem
At least eight Israelis have been killed and 27 others injured following an Iranian missile strike that struck a residential building in Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, on Sunday.
According to Israeli media reports, the daily Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Israel’s ambulance service Magen David Adom (MDA), confirmed that among the injured are four people in critical condition. Emergency responders also said several individuals remain missing as search and rescue operations continue at the scene.
The strike comes amid escalating tensions in the region following coordinated attacks by United States and Israel on Iran on Saturday, which reportedly killed several senior Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran responded with a wave of drone and missile strikes targeting Israeli territory.
This latest confrontation follows a similar escalation in June last year, when coordinated US–Israeli strikes on Iran triggered a 12-day conflict before a ceasefire was eventually announced.
Rescue teams remain on the ground in west Jerusalem as authorities assess the full scale of the damage and continue efforts to locate those still missing.
