Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has renewed his call for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza, describing the ongoing conflict as a “shameful humanitarian tragedy” that has led to massive destruction and the loss of tens of thousands of lives.

Speaking during the commemoration of the 43rd anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day, President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s firm stance since the beginning of the war — demanding an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and unimpeded humanitarian aid delivery. He also strongly opposed any displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.

“Eliminating the Palestinian cause is a red line,” El-Sisi stated, highlighting Egypt’s historic role in defending Palestinian rights. He called for Gaza’s reconstruction to align with the Arab-Islamic vision, ensuring no forced displacement while preserving regional stability and Egypt’s national security.

He reaffirmed that lasting peace is only achievable through the creation of an independent Palestinian state, based on international legitimacy, which he said is the only way to break the cycle of violence and vengeance.
