El-Zakzaky Alleges U.S. Role in Funding Boko Haram, ISWAP, Accuses Nigerian Politicians of Fueling Insecurity
Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has made explosive allegations claiming that the United States is responsible for creating and funding Boko Haram, the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), and ISIS.
In a viral video circulating online, the Shi’ite leader also accused Nigerian politicians of engineering and sustaining the country’s worsening insecurity. According to him, those in power have the capacity to end the crisis but allegedly choose not to.
“The insecurity problem in Nigeria was created by politicians in power. If they want to stop it today, they can, because they engineered it,” El-Zakzaky said.
He questioned how groups previously known for cattle rearing could suddenly access sophisticated weapons and armoured vehicles. “How come people known as cattle rearers now have guns in the bush? How come those labelled as bandits have armoured vehicles and are called terrorists? Where did these armoured tankers come from?” he asked.
El-Zakzaky further alleged that U.S. involvement in Nigeria’s security sector is questionable, insisting that America “created and funds” Boko Haram, ISWAP and ISIS. He claimed the U.S. has openly admitted plans to use terrorism to dominate Africa.
“By inviting the U.S., when we know clearly they are behind this insecurity… how do you expect them to provide remedies for what they caused? It will only lead to mass killings,” he said, alleging that foreign powers are primarily interested in exploiting Nigeria’s natural resources.
He also claimed that foreign interests are strategically positioned in areas rich in gold, oil, gas and other minerals, adding that this explains their presence in states such as Zamfara and Katsina.
El-Zakzaky’s allegations have sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the validity of his claims as insecurity continues to be a major challenge across the country.
