Tech billionaire Elon Musk has announced plans to launch a new political movement, the America Party, intensifying his feud with President Donald Trump.
In a post shared Saturday on X (formerly Twitter), Musk said the party aims to “crack the uniparty system,” criticizing both Democrats and Republicans for what he sees as entrenched dysfunction in U.S. politics.
His declaration followed Trump’s signing of the GOP’s contentious budget bill on Friday. Musk slammed the bill, saying it would “bankrupt the country,” and vowed to form a new political platform if it passed through Congress.
Trump fired back on Sunday, calling Musk’s move “ridiculous.” In a fiery post on Truth Social, the president said Musk has gone “off the rails” and branded him a “TRAIN WRECK.”
The public rift marks a sharp turn in their previously warm relationship, with Musk having been a vocal supporter of Trump’s economic policies in the past.
