The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, on Saturday in Zaria formally turbaned former Vice President Namadi Sambo as the Sardaunan Zazzau, a revered traditional title within the emirate.

Speaking during the colourful ceremony held at his palace, the Emir revealed that the title was originally conferred on Sambo in 2014 by his predecessor, the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.

He, however, explained that the coronation could not take place until now.

According to Bamalli, the conferment was in recognition of Sambo’s exemplary leadership, immense contributions to national development, and steadfast commitment to humanitarian causes.

The Emir expressed optimism that the new Sardauna would continue to promote peace, unity, and progress within the emirate and across the country.

“We hope and pray that he will continue to be a bridge builder between Zazzau Emirate and his network of friends and relationships,” Bamalli said.

The event drew a distinguished crowd, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, several serving and former governors, traditional and religious leaders, senior government officials, and notable political figures.
