Emirates Airlines has officially resumed operations in Nigeria, marking its return with a historic flight landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after a two-year hiatus.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Gulf, Middle East, and Central Asia, emphasized Nigeria’s importance as one of Emirates’ key African markets.

Before the pause in service, the airline operated 14 weekly flights to Lagos and seven to Abuja.

“We are delighted to be back, and this time, we are back for good,” Ghaith stated, expressing gratitude to Nigerian authorities for their support in facilitating the airline’s return.

The flight, a Boeing 777/300 (EK 703), landed at 15:20, signaling Emirates’ renewed commitment to the Nigerian market.

The event saw attendance from both Emirates and Nigerian officials, including Nigerian Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation Capt. Chris Najomo, and other aviation leaders.

Keyamo highlighted Nigeria’s potential to become Africa’s aviation hub, stressing that the country’s large economy and frequent travelers make it a priority for Emirates.

A celebratory reception featured a cake cutting and an exchange of gifts, symbolizing the strengthened partnership between Emirates and Nigeria. Looking ahead, the renewed relationship promises to unlock broader business opportunities between Nigeria and the UAE.
