The Enugu State Government has announced the cancellation of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise originally scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the cancellation is to allow candidates participating in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) unrestricted access to their exam centres.

“The cancellation was to enable candidates in the state sitting for the UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to participate in the exam,” Onyia stated.

The SSG also clarified that there would be no restriction of movement on that day but urged residents to still take responsibility for cleaning their surroundings.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a total of 2,030,627 candidates are registered to sit for the UTME, which begins nationwide on April 24. Out of this number, 41,026 candidates are below 16 years of age.
