The Federal Government has announced that with the introduction of a new curriculum for Basic and Senior Secondary Education, all students in Nigeria will be required to graduate with at least two skills.

This was revealed by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, during the 68th National Council on Education (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, October 10.

Prof. Mamman emphasized that the updated curriculum is designed to integrate knowledge, skills, and values, with a strong focus on practical skills to prepare students for the economy and ensure they can lead productive lives after graduation.

He acknowledged that the current curriculum is at risk of becoming outdated due to technological disruptions across industries, including education.

The minister highlighted that the new curriculum is part of the Education Transformation Agenda, aimed at overhauling the education sector to promote quality learning, skill development, and equitable access for all learners.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding international education protocols and ensuring the protection of learners,
